Proposed route for Towcester bypass

Pury End Village Website has obtained a copy of South Northants Council's plans for the Towcester bypass. 

The plans for the Towcester bypass, which were previously rejected by the Deputy Prime Minister's office, show the new bypass cutting away from the A5 at a new roundabout, which would be situated where the road from Whittlebury to the A5 currently joins. The bypass would then cut away from the village and skirt close to Wood Burcote before reaching the A43 dual carriageway.

These plans are broadly welcome since they deomonstrate an intention to leave the historic villages of Paulerspury and Pury End intact. However, questionmarks still remain over the real need for a bypass at all (see earlier article)
